Having run one of the largest venues on the Edinburgh Festival Fringe as a student, Mal's theatre work took him to a vibrant fringe scene in San Diego, California where he wrote, directed and produced many shows. Returning to London, he became a post production specialist working across the spectrum of TV drama including Silent Witness.
He began directing in 2006 and teamed with Andrea Thornton on three shorts: Fluffy, RedBlack and ARK. All three have played at BAFTA- and AMPAS-accredited Palm Springs ShortFest (2007/2008). RedBlack plays regularly on TV in San Francisco and has been handpicked to showcase on the L-Studio broadband channel from April.
ARK, featuring Simone Lahbib, was the opening highlight of the bi-annual One Take Film Festival in Zagreb.
Mal has been championed in Shots New Directors showcase and is currently developing his first feature.
